Run the Race

Air is rushing in my face
As I begin to run my race,
I look ahead and see the Son,
Now I know where to run.
At first it all seems like fun
But things get tough
The road gets bumpy,
The road gets rough.
People around me, stumble, and fall,
I wish I’d gone back to help them all.

Sometimes I get lost along the way,
God loves me, no matter where I stray.
When I get tired, or when I get weary,
Or when the weather gets cold and dreary.
I know that GOD is always near me.

Sometimes the sky is cloudy and grey,
But there is a light that guides my way.
It matters not if you come in first or last place,
It matters how you run the race,
It matters how you live the light,
If you do what’s wrong or right.

As I near the finish line,
Light shines on my face,
And I have won my race.

What God Said to Me

I know your thoughts,
I know your ways,
I know your sad and happy days,
I see you deep inside your heart,
Even in the deepest part,
I hear you when you call my name,
I can change you; you’ll never be the same.

Pray and I will give you strength you need,
And bless you when my words you heed.
You are my child, I love you true,
I alone am always with you.

I love you so much, I sent my Son,
He died for you, the battle is won,
I am with you now, No need to fear.
For I alone am always near.

Some thoughts

Taken from a journal entry dated first of October 2006- reflections on YITS.

I’ve been thinking about stuff. Last year was officially called ‘Year in the Son,’ but is there any reason why I can’t have a lifetime in the Son? I know it would be a lot of hard work, but it would also be very rewarding.

Just like a year has seasons, so does the spiritual life, there are times of change- autumn, times of growth- spring, times of silence- winter, and times of draught- summer. But if we wait, all the seasons change, one doesn’t last forever.

Last year GOD was constantly shoved in our faces, now its up to me to look for and seek Him for myself. Even though GOD is everywhere, we sometimes see him through a veil. We know he is there but we can’t see him clearly.

I worked out that it’s not a matter of finding GOD in what seems like a GOD-less world, but it’s a matter of recognizing GOD in a GOD filled world, finding GOD in small things as well as Big things.

Is this really me God?

Beloved Child of GOD,
Is that how you see me?
Adored, loved, Beautiful?
I do not understand,
How can this be?

I’m weak and I fall,
And yet you see past that,
You see my heart,
Every little part,

You see me sin, you see my shame,
Yet you love me all the same,
You know my fears, catch my tears,
Only you are with me through the years.

Open Me

Open my eyes that I may see
The way that you have set for me
Open my eyes, don’t let me be blind
To your leading of any kind.

Open my ears that I may hear,
Your gentle whispers in my ear
Open my heart that I may know
Your love for me O LORD.

Open my mouth and let me speak,
To the poor, the oppressed, the weak
Open my life, let the world see
The wondrous things you’ve done in me

I give you my life, to use as you choose;
I know there’s nothing I could ever loose
You stand before me
And call my name
My child, precious child
I love you as my own

Come to me, just as you are
I see you my child
Every hurt, every tear, every scar
You cannot hide, I know you well
I love you my child
Too much to tell

When you fall, I’ll pick you up
Time and time again
You cannot fall beyond my reach
I love you my child, I want you to know
How far I went, and how far I’ll go

I hold you now in the palm of my hand
I hold you up and help you stand
Lean on me, I’ll get you through
I’ll never leave, nor forsake you

You are my precious child,
I’ll never let go of your hand.

An Easter Reflection

No. 1

Lamb of GOD for sinners slain,
Your blood has washed away my shame.
Upon that cross you hung and died,
The Father turned away and cried.

At the third hour, the sky turned black,
And the temple curtain began to crack.
The veil between you and me was broken,
So these words can now be spoken.

LORD, you came and died for me,
You came and died to set me free.
What can I do to repay this sacrifice?
I can do nothing, but give you my life.

No. 2

Forsaken by Your Father,
Bleeding, Betrayed, Alone
Taken from that rugged cross,
Laid behind a stone.

Why did you do that?
I don’t understand
The price you paid for me
It was the price, the only price
The price to set me free.

Free from sin, free from shame
Eternal life to live
What must I do now?
I must go
The love of GOD to give.
